The World
The World
A dark, cosy fantasy — for readers who don't mind waiting for the truth
For three hundred years, a small pocket of magic has been sealed away. The Herbalist Cat's Secret Garden invites you in — where time doesn't move by the clock. It moves by the moon.
01
Baba
A bespectacled, ginger-furred cat alchemist. He wears an old cloak and a small satchel of vials, and begins every morning the same way — checking the dew on the garden.
Three hundred years ago, he is said to have sealed himself into this garden of his own will. Only Baba knows why. He answers most questions with exactly half the truth, in the particular dry wit of something that has lived far too long to bother lying outright.
02
The Garden
A small world built around a pond and a cottage, with flowerbeds that change colour through every season. Day and night, full moon and new moon — the garden wears a different face for each.
Some flowers open only on nights of the full moon. Some leaves hold their strongest scent when the moon is waning to nothing. You don't need any special knowledge to visit — just look up. Whatever shape tonight's moon is wearing is enough to meet the garden by.
03
The Apprentices
Three shadows who drift in and out of the garden. Not much of their story has been told yet — but they're always there, somewhere in Baba's day.
